Known informally as the "Monkey Head Nebula", NGC 2174 is a mixture of emission and reflection nebulae in Orion.  The loose star cluster at its center is known as NGC 2175 and the nebula surrounding it has the designation NGC 2174.  However, some references also show the nebula to be NGC 2175.

NGC 2174/2175 lies at a distance of 850 light years.
