Copyright 2008 John Hodge

A close-up of the famous "Horsehead" nebula.  The Horsehead is actually a cloud of dark material in front of a luminous cloud of hydrogen, IC 434.  The bright star with nebulosity around it at the bottom of the frame is NGC 2023.
